The plug door detector leaves a track lite on like the section is occupied.
They use to talk and some one killed old charlie so now you just get the
track light. Right away I have some one check the section from another
track to see if any thing is on the track as quite often the track is needed
for movement. If the report is clear I talk trains by the red signals to
enter the block till the maintainer arrives.
I have had control cars take a toboggon ride on top of doors. Sometimes had
doors but not often. If you have a door you have to get a MOW truck with a
crane to lift. Although I have had the section use bars and slide it off
to the south side. Before the detectors were installed the BOCT trains use
to be the worst. After the toboggan incident I use to have the BOCT trains
Inspect both sides before entering the main at Western Ave. Until I got
jumped on for delaying trains. Also had a BOCT transfer ontime with a load
of plate steel that was not suppose to come up that way. It made it to the
first bridge and proceeded to raise up as the steel followed the bridge
girder and took the flat with it popping the air hoses. Had to get a crane
to lift it off the bridge.
