Well Dale...Thanks for the good news!! You got my curiosity up so I tore
down my 45 to have a look see.
Lets see here...If you take out the nylon bushings on the 45 worm shaft, you
gain almost all the space needed to get it into the sd-7 truck. A little
filing on one of the bronze bushings will loosen it up a bit.
I looked at some Athearn universals to go on the worm shafts and that will
work so you can use the 45 drive train. Also, an Athearn worm assembly fits
too.
As for the truck mounting to the frame, thats a different story. That could
be taken care of if I had a milling machine by thinning the frame a bit to
lower it.
But, what I think I might do is to use the 45 trucks and the SD-7 brake
rigging (since it's a seperate piece), trim off whats needed to get it on
the 45 sideframe mounting pins, shim behind the rigging and mount them to
the truck gearcase with screws...HMMMMM.
We'll see what happens...
