Gee whiz, Randy?you're going to scratch build a K-4 in N scale! At
my age a magnifier is required to see some stuff on P48 engines!
I'm intrigued with your use of a CNC mill. Just how detailed can one
carve on brass with a CNC set up? For example, could fluted side
rods be machined with this system? I am not familiar with CNC
machining but it certainly sounds like it would be a real asset in
scratch building.
I have an old EMCO mill, the one you have to raise and lower the
head manually. And a newer large mill, one of the Taiwan products,
not the best quality but it works. I wonder if either could be set
up with CNC?
I have a number of close up detail photos of a K-2 including the
drivers. Both the K-2 and K-4 used the "square" counter weights. Let
me know and I can scan and send.
