I should have added a bit of a disclaimer...although we never did it on any
branch line local I ever worked, I can see that, under certain circumstances at
the end of a branch line, it would be easy to turn the waycar with the
engine, or in the case you mentioned to wye the entire train, wh;ich would, of
course, only be a few cars.
What I said would apply to major terminals such as Lincoln, Creston, Ottumwa,
Galesburg...now somebody is going to come on and say...."we used to turn our
waycar at Creston.......
Everybody has a story...That what makes this stuff fun to talk about.
