According to Bulletin #13 "on Dec. 19, 1944 while running as the
southbound SAM HOUSTON ZEPHYR near Dacus, Tx, fire broke out beneath the
power car and between it and the second car. Attempts to extinguish the
conflagration were futile, and the power car was completely gutted."
