Jonathon,
I just use plain old 70% isopropyl alcohol, which runs about 50 cents a pint.
I discovered several years ago that it makes a great thinner for water-based
paints, when airbrushing. It disapates readily and has no ill effects on the
paint film left behind. Modelflex readily desolves into it with no gummy mess.

Many thanks for sharing the "fruits" of your research and experimentation!
Sounds like a great recipe; I look forward to trying it -- though not to
the smell.
One question: when you refer to "rubbing alcohol," do you mean the regular
isopropyl stuff they sell at the drugstore, or denatured ethyl alcohol,
which you can get usually only at a paint or hardware store? My impression
is that isopropyl is not as good a solvent, and as I have little experience
with water-based paints, I don't want to end up with some gummy mess.
thanks again,
jonathan
