In todays research of the UTU files we stumbled on an interesting tidbit. Up
until 1948 the "Northern Passenger Pool " train crews operated out of Savanna
eastbound on a first in first out basis regardless of what job they were
advertised to come east on. So if you were advertised for #52 and were first
out and an eastbound extra or section came thru it was yours and the next
crew got 52 behind you. But in '48 some younger lodge members said "hey" and
after much rangling and correspondence a trainmasters notice said" return on
your advertised run".
