Ken: Charlie, Ken and Russ have already put in excellent responses. I
would like to add that originally the CB&N connected with the Chicago &
Iowa (C&I) at Oregon, IL . I have interviewed many of the old timers who
constantly referred to one of the tracks at Oregon as the "CB&N track"
which is where cars were spotted to be picked up by the CB&N. This
practice started in 1886. When I started interviewing retired employees
in the mid 1980s, they all remember calling that track the "CB&N" track,
even though both lines had been acquired and merged into the CB&Q in
1899!
