I rode the AMRZ December 27, 1953 from St. Joe to Quincy as part of a trip to
St. Louis.
I experienced a once in lifetime happening on that trip which I'll post on
here soon. I wrote it up a couple of years ago for our Lincoln Railfans Club
and I want to get that piece out, so I don't have to remember (or make up)
too much now.
The train, of course, was pretty knew then...not quite two years old, and I
still have a memory picture of those very shiny silver cars sitting on the
stub track at the south end of the old St. Joe Union Station.
Prior to that time, probably in the 1940's I made several trips to Chicago
via St. Joe and the old American Royal...That was when the main train
originated at St. Joe...I remember being on the platform at Cameron, Jct. and
waiting for the Motor Car connection to come in from KC.
