Leo,
This is great news. I am in the process of assembling information on milk
handling and milk trains. I have been seeking info about how milk got into
Chicago and your post is the first solid info I've read. I look forward to
reading the files when posted.
Anything from anyone else?

Subject: [BRHSlist] Milk
Well today I learned a ton about milk service on the C&I and East End in the
20's and 30's based on timeslips and related correspondence concerning
arbitrary timeslips for handling milk by brkmn rather than the baggegman.
Seems the "milk train" was taken off as a cost cutting measure and 42 was
delegated to p/u the milk thereafter. The correspondence provides great
details on where the loading platforms were(some were even between stations)
and the volume of milk carried. Theres even areference to meeting trains off
the Sterling branch at Shabbona.
Seems that Eola and Naperville both had milk platforms.
