You may not believe this but I sat next to him on the dinky in the morning from
Aurora to Chicago for weeks before I knew who he was. He seemed to be a nice
enough guy and we used to talk railroading stuff now and then. I was in the
Passenger Department at that time so conversation seemed to drift toward
passenger trains. He never seemed unduly anti-passenger train and struck me as
a no nonsense operating man.
I never did find out what happened with him on the BN but I gather it was not
altogether amicable for him and I heard he retired.
