Interestingly, the same was true for the Chicago & Northwestern. A 99 year
old friend of mine grew up in Clinton, Iowa and for a while his dad worked
for the Northwestern in Fulton across the river. The local employee
accommodation train was known as the "scoot" which is the C&NW equivalent of
"dinky" in the Chicago area for commuter runs.
I disremember all the terms used in Chicago but I know the Milwaukee, GM&O,
IC, PRR, and Wabash all had their own different nicknames for suburban
service trains and may have parallel usage for branchline / employee
accommodation service as well.
