In May 1965 floods covered the Q tracks in Savanna Ill. 4960 was taken out of "Excursion service" and used to pull freight and passenger trains through the flood. So I would say that May 1965 sould be recorded as the last revenue service for steam on the Q main line.

Could have sworn I saw one working at that time, but this "Old Man's" memory could be wrong. I was in my late 20's in 1956. I remember looking down from
the river bridge and seeing about half the drivers under water as it moved.
It probably was earlier than I thought.
