There seems to be some questions/confusion about the Aurora Transportation
Center among some of the correspondence.Yes,suburban service runs between
Aurora and Chicago with boarding at Aurora. There is a new parking lot on
the east side of the elevation where various industries once were located. The
old shop space is now full of parking and there is a waiting list for spaces
thus the new lot.Same at rte 59 which is presently undergoing its 3rd
expansion on the Aurora side. The Naperville side has no more room to
expand. The entire suburban operation has grown beyond anyones' expectation of
20 yrs ago or so with service extensions to Montomery,Bristol/Yorkville/Plano
and Sugar Grove/Big Rock only a matter of time/money. The growth rate in
these towns is unbelievable.
Amtrak doesn't use the what was once the old "Aurora Leads" to get to the the
"new "Transportation Center as they are stub ended and you can't get to the
mains from the lower level of the former shops area. The old Spring St incline
was destroyed in the design of the new center. Not sure how Metra/BNSF will
handle the extended service to points west, guess tehy be served with their
own sets of express trains skipping Aurora. Wonder what the city of Aurora
will do when a huge percentage of the autos dont show up but stay out west?
