If this has been brought up, dummy masts should be mentioned - as dummy
masts have been installed on even single mast high signals to cover "inside
tracks", rather than the expense of bracket masts or cantilevers. It makes
me wonder when cantilevers came in to wide use, as it seems that I have seen
significantly older bracket masts and dummy masts than cantilever types.
