The discussion of chalk marks brought something to mind. Does anyone know
what a turnover was/is? (no its not food).
Well, Ok a turnover is/was a listing of the yard at the end of the shift by
the outgoing YDMSTR so that the next has an idea of the status of things. At
Eola the standard turnover listed all 13 tracks in each yard with a general
description of what was on each, for example, east 13-'j',east
3-chgo's,etc,etc. Also any upcoming or unusual events would be noted on the
bottom, for example, if stock was coming or trains were holding to get in, or
if the "dock" needed or was pulled or the rip needed a switch, etc.
If you don't use one on your layout you might find this interesting and
helpful. Leo
