Jack:
I urge your to be cautious with your analysis. The map you are viewing
may indicate the right of way of the former Chicago Milwaukee and Gary,
a line that became part of the Milwaukee Road. It connected with the
Milw's Indiana line east of Momence and the Dubuque and Illinois
Division at Kirkland. Some records indicate that it went north of
Kirkland connecting with the Janesville line. It was abandoned south of
DeKalb in 1947 when the need to haul company coal around Chicago
declined. The other remnant of the line remained as the Joliet branch
until the 70's. The line had trackage rights on the EJ&E from Joliet to Aurora.
