The CGW tunnel did not have a central ventilation shaft. I've seen photographs of it's west end showing a building called a ventilating house, so they may be just pulled air in one end out and out th

The entire line inc. (Winston tunnel) from Oelwein to St. Charles, IL was in use til a yr after C&NW absorption of CGW (absorbed in "68 so line abandoned "69?) I have a booklet at home on the tunnel
