Switchers ordered/delivered after 1958 or 1959 certainly limits the units involved - 12 SW1200's 9281-9282 delivered between 06/65 and 08/65, and 12 SW1000's 9310-9321 delivered between 05/66 and 06/

As follow-up to Tom's narrative on NW-2 paint schemes, I have found photos with more variations on the schemes outlined below. The "simplified" scheme (#6) usually had the Scotchlight reflector strip

Tim: I agree with your observations - this is why photographic evidence is so important. I believe some of these "odd" variations, such as solid black frame, are the result of the Scotchlite peeling

I renumbered one by using an ink eraser on the original numbers. You might give that a try. Work carefully and, with the Kato paint, you can remove the markings without touching the underlying colour
