In the current issue of Classic Trains, Summer 2018, page 7 has a photo of Q 2-6-2 #1907 in Los Angeles with two other SP and CRIP steam engines in 1942 on the Southern Pacific. Any one have an idea

Not familiar with that particular photo, but I have seen photos of Q on the SP in California. I believe that the SP need additional engines during the war effort and the Q "leased" some to the SP. RA

Courtesy of the Espee group, the following CB&Q locomotives were leased by the SP during World War II. These were all Baldwin Locomotive Works locomotives. The engine numbers and build dates are list

Bob, The list you got raises some questions, first it doesnt list 1907 which is the engine Dennis asked about and is second engine in the photo with 1955 that Michael posted. There is also a photo on

The January 1, 1942 CB&Q locomotive assignment sheet lists R-4s 1907 and 1955, R-5-A 2113, S-2-a 2932 and S-3 2974 as leased to the SP. The next assignment sheet I have is for May 1, 1942, and it add
