Often the concrete houses were cramed full of relay racks and wiring. And some times people would shoot at the glass insulators. Once out west of Aurora we started to have trouble with the code lines

Over the last couple of years, BNSF (UP too) has been busy converting its CTC so that the communication is handled within the new PTC infrastructure, which I believe is all fiber and uses radio only
