Often the concrete houses were cramed full of relay racks and wiring.  And some times people would shoot at the glass insulators.  Once out west of Aurora we started to have trouble with the code lines(those large wires in bundles)  The maintainer had to go over the line with his bare hand in order to find the hole and a 22 slug that would short out the wires.  

Then the Railroad went modern  Changed to printed circuits and New Shiny Tin shacks.  The sun would heat them up and fry the circuits.  So they had to add air conditioners to the tin shacks.  And Microwave works wonders until the geese start flying into the pond at the Electrics in Mendota.  Wonder if they ever got that fixed.
