Does anyone know when the Q started painting the M/W cars orange? I know I am opening a bucket of worms and it has probably come up before. But what do people use for the M/W orange and the earlier M

i have in my notes "1948" orange--no other data than the year--there are photo's of mineral red passenger cars as well as sand service hoppers-- a Burlington Bulletin of some years past had years and

You're right! According to an Answer in Zephyr #28 "The first use of "Omaha" orange paint on maintenance-of-way equipment was in 1948. One source has told the ZEPHYR that the re-painting of the Lines

Thanks for the replies. 1948 is earllier than I thought, I was thinking it would have been at the same time as the switch to Chinese red. And of course I didn' t think to chack back through the Zephy
