In Galesburg, ice was indeed harvested off Highland Lake which was the first steam engine water reservoir for the Q located in what is now East Galesburg.  I don't believe the Q was directly involved

Yes, that is the water tank used by switch engines working the Purington branch. In later years after the pump house and tank were dismantled and the Q started used Purington water or East Galesburg
