I dont know the correct answer, but I have a suggestion as to why that would happen. The slogan stencils had to be split to accommodate the Z-channels on single sheathed box cars, so perhaps the pain

Thanks Nelson. I reviewed the Burlington Bulletin covering the XM-32 series last night, and none of the photos show the stenciled appearance of the lettering. And it isn't mentioned in the paint and

List,  The stencils were made from thin metal. Areas between a's, o's, p's, etc. needed to be supported for obvious reasons. Wire or thin strips of metal were used to bridge between stencil areas for
