Not all passenger service was turned over to Amtrak in 1971. Even on Class One's a number of short-haul operations weren't turned over. Several long-haul passenger trains weren't turned over the AMTK

My understanding was that the Northern Cross started to build a line from Quincy to Camp Point,IL where it left what would later become the Q, to Clayton,IL where the Wabash would later come from the
