Started in 1929, Burlington Trailways is ending intercity bus service.
Burlington Trailways is discontinuing its intercity scheduled route service, including the West Burlington bus depot, at the end of September 27, according to a company statement. While the West Burlington location will close, the company's Division Street office in Burlington will remain open. Tours and charters will continue through September 30, and there are plans to continue charter service into 2026. The closure is attributed to financial unsustainability of rural intercity bus service, citing outdated federal grant formulas, uncertainty in interline relationships, and rising insurance costs.
