Burlington Trailways provides Thruway bus service for Amtrak, linking the Zephyr and Chief at Galesburg the Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle at Normal, The Ilini, Saluki, and City of New Orleans at Champaign, and the Cardinal at Indianapolis. I hope Amtrak finds a replacement.

It is sad to see them close, but they are not related to the Burlington Trailways started by the CB&Q. That Trailways sold to another company in the 1950s. In 1981, 29 years after Burlington Trailways ceased to operate under that name, Ron and Lori Moore started a new company and decided to name it Burlington Trailways.

How many Burlington rail fans know that Ralph Budd was instrumental in starting the nation's two major bus companies for many years, both Greyhound and Trailways? He started Greyhound when he was president of the Great Northern and Trailways when he was president of the Burlington.
