Thread-topic: [CBQ] Gladstone, Illinois spur
Roger,

That is the line of the "Dolly" that ran from Burlington to Oquawka Jct., then north to Oquawka, Keithsburg, Galesburg, Joy, Aldo, Viola, New Windsor, Alpha, then south to Rio, Henderson, Galesburg, then back west to Burlington on the Chicago to Denver line. We have a member research in it for a Bulletin article. So, if anyone has any information on this line, let me know.

Dave

[Edited Message Follows]

The most obscure rail line on the Burlington Route or in Illinois?

I’ve always been a big Burlington Route fan and tracking down old lines on maps.  I found this spur off the Burlington Route north of Gladstone Illinois.  It shows up on maps in the 1930’s then disappeared after 1940.  Coincidentally the lock and dam 18 on the Mississippi River was built at that time. I’m guessing the spur was buikd to bring materialls to the site but i have no proof.  The line is not listed in any Time tables from the era also.
