According to Burlington Bulletin 13, the Pioneer Zephyr had an accident 
with a truck on April 29, 1950. After repair, it was assigned the 
Galesburg-Quincy run until early 1953. After the introduction of the 
Kansas City Zephyr in early 1953, the Pioneer and Mark Twain Zephyrs 
operated as the local connecting service Galesburg-Quincy-St. Joseph 
until August 1957. It was then reassigned to St. Joseph-Lincoln service 
running via Beatrice, NE, westbound and eastbound via Tecumseh, NE, 
before it's 1960 retirement.
