While researching Galesburg's engine facility and roundhouse, I ran across the attached spreadsheet I put together many years ago. I seem to remember the track numbers and lengths coming from a close up track diagram, especially since the tracks are numbered. But I can't find a detailed track diagram of the engine facility with track numbers on my computer or in my stash of paper documents, and I failed to list in my spreadsheet where I got the information. Does anyone recall such a diagram or document, either online or in print?
Second, I have a poor scan of the Galesburg coaling tower diagram with dimensions. While I have been able to get a lot of information I need, it would be nice to have better plans. Does anyone have or know of a clear set of plans/prints for the Galesburg 900 ton concrete coaling tower?
And the more I look at the so-so plan diagram that I have and photos on the web, including photos in the BRHS members site, the easier it seems that this structure could now be done using 3D printing. For example, it appears that the main concrete structure of the tower could be made from just five or six major printed sections - dome and top house, main round coal bunker, coal chute base structure, support columns structure, angled concrete hoistway, etc. But before I take on such a task, has anyone else been working on this or considered it as a project?
