Great modeling and great video.  AFAIK, the Rio Grande's only narrow gauge diesel was a Davenport DM30, D&RGW #50, which had originally been Sumpter Valley #101 (built 1937, Davenport serial #2245):

I’m not sure which prototype railroad owned GE 23 ton box cab locomotives, but I believe the D&RGW had one.  The paint scheme is resembles that railroad.

 

My model is pure fantasy and based on the locos in the beloved San Juan Central series by Malcolm Furlow in Model Roader Magazine.  That series was part of my entry into the hobby, so when I built my own layout, I had to have one on *my* narrow gauge railroad.

 

I justify it by noting that Boulder’s narrow gauge railroad disappeared in 1920, but if it survived into my 1958 era, it *should* have had one of those photogenic yard goats.  J
