Scott,  I don't have a lot of information, but I lived in Laramie for 10 years, 
and often drove to Denver via US 287 to Ft. Collins. That branch line to Rex 
was always an interest.  I saw very few trains, but one I vividly remember was 
a UP local with a caboose in the mid-1970s going north along to magnificent 
palisades (?) north of the turnoff to Poudre Canyon (Ted's Place).  The line 
never went to Laramie.  There is a great book that includes this area.  I think 
it is entitled The Railroad of Northern Colorado. Ah, those were great days! It 
is all gone now.  Jerry Michels
