Galesburg RR Days started in the mid-late 70's . I was told by our guide during one of the yard tours, that RR Days started after the 1972 fatal BN head- on wreck near Maquon,IL that killed 4 crew members. Galesburg wanted to boast the moral of the town, so they started Railroad Days Erik Spoonmore

I know that you can use them for Railroad Days in Galesburg, with a 6 car set being used to tour the yard in 1997.
I am not sure that Galesburg yard existed as it does today in CB&Q times, but when did Railroad Days start in Galesburg? I wasn’t sure if that was a tradition started by CB&Q or if that came about as part of the BN? Trying to figure out when the tour of the yard via Gallery Cars came about.
