Tom,
The info. Below may help answer your question. This info. Is gleaned from a paper two ring booklet published by Range Research in 1991. It’s source was the Conductors Booking Books of three Aurora Division Conductors of the Q. These books were kept by passenger Condrs. for their records and to fill out wheel reports. They were generally filled out by the brakeman or flagman at the crews origin station. This of course could be a mid route crew train station.
Here’s a small sampling:

Q had several RPO's running to KC but did not have the long distance mail contract. Express was as needed for local traffic.
Q did have the Chi to Council Bluffs mail contract where they turned it over to the UP
I'm normally not a CB&Q modeler. But, I model Kansas City Union Station and I'm trying to get some information as to whether the Q had mail trains like the ATSF going into KCUS. The KCUS timetable for 1956 doesn't show mail trains for the Q like it does for the Santa Fe.
My question is, did the Burlington have mail trains thst carried REA and Express cars to KCUS during the 1950s? And, if so what did their consists look like.
Thanks,
Tom Bailey
