All-

The Cook Journal Box Cooler was patented on March 12, 1911 by Miles.P. Cook of Flint, Michigan._,

The patent drawing looks remarkably like the CB&Q example so perhaps it was purchased and not made in the tin shop by the Q.

Dr. Leslie E. Keeley, M.D., L.L.D., a physician and surgeon of Dwight, Illinois had been a surgeon in the Civil War believed that addiction was a form of poisoning by the substance involved (alcohol, morphine, etc.) and that cleansing the body of all traces of it would cure the patient.  His treatment involved Chloride of Gold and Sodium in water which was compounded in Dwight and shipped all over the world to branch clinics and for home use.  Starting in 1879 the institute and branches cured alcohol and other addictions until it finally closed down in 1965.  Wikipedia goes into more detail about the treatments which also involved injections.

Some CB&Q tenders were equipped with valves, piping and hoses from the tank to tend to hotboxes on the tender itself and there are pictures of a Keeley hanging on a Waycar ready to be hefted to an errant journal in the train but I can’t recall where I saw it at the moment.
