Lot of people were upset over it all. I worked with a few that still resent that merger and resented merging with the Santa Fe.
I was out on the C&S and had guys still mad at the Q. It won’t die till they are all gone, and even then there will be resentment .
That’s the way it goes.

That is an interesting mix. The one that stands out to me is the Livingston Anti-Merger committee, the brainchild of the late Warren Mcgee. The lasting shadow he cast is still manifested in the NPRHS yearly calendar with the black background for March 3 of any given year. That resentment has been going on now for 51 years. Time to give it a rest! Jim Sandrin
According to the summary of Supreme
Court case United States v. ICC, 396 U.S. 491 (1970), there were
four groups that filed suits to stop the merger: (1) the United
States, through the Antitrust Division of the Department of
Justice, (2) the Northern Pacific Stockholders' Protective
Committee, (3) the City of Auburn, Washington, and (4) the
Livingston Anti-Merger Committee.

Hi all,
The BN merger was all set to move forward in
1968.
It got waylaid by an 11th hour lawsuit.
I can’t recall, what group filed suit to stop
to the merger?
Thanks
Jeff
