The shot of the 334 on the back cover of #48 was taken from the 23rd Street Viaduct a couple weeks after the March 3 1970 merger date.  This was a transfer run up to D&RGW's North Yard.  The trailing unit was the 407.  I have seen shots of the 403 and 410  (both in Chinese Red) in Denver prior to the merger but would guess that those visits were short lived  as the units were added to consists out of Lincoln simply to provide the requisite horsepower for a given train.  Jim Sandrin
