It was in a grade crossing accident in Longmont, Colorado while operating on the C&S on April 29, 1950. Hit a loaded gravel truck.

I thought that the PZ was in 2 front end collision and one tear end collision.  It was rebuilt after each collision.  

Karl Zimmerman's book The Burlington Zephyrs states that the PZ was like Vermont farmer's proverbial axe.  He had the axe for 40 years & replaced axe head twice & the handle once !!!
