I recently tried to negotiate with an eBay seller in an effort to purchase a 225 (remaining) photo collection of CB&Q engines. The photographs are from a collection of a MN railroad enthusiast who motorcycled across the country to photograph steam engines in the 1930s. The photos in the collection are being sold off piece by piece at a cost of $10-12 each. Many of the photos are engines not in the BRHS Flickr archives. Therefore, it is a historically important collection. I was able to negotiate a price of $7 a photo. That is still $1575 for the remaining CB&Q photos in the collection. I cannot afford to buy the entire collection myself, but I have purchased about 10 photos of engines my Great Grandpa operated. I will pledge another $100 to the purchase of the remaining collection if 15 others in this group will make the same pledge. The combined pledges would be made for the specific purpose of purchasing the collection and donating it to the BRHS. If you are interested in supporting this effort, you can contact me by email or this list. Once I have the needed pledges, I will front the purchase and ask each pledge to send me their shares. The contribution to BRHS would be a joint contribution from all donors to this cause. Thank you for your consideration.
