I think the nose E Unit stripes were preferable to the originally planned faux shovelnose windows….red or black.
Too bad the Numberboards were above the windshields….they could have pulled off a convincing Zephyrus or Pegasus shovelnose with simulated stainless steel…but that would have been too expensive….but would have looked great with the faux CB&Q gallery cars!
I don’t know how much input the Q had in the evolution of EMD paint jobs but with few exceptions I think the end results were pretty good.
I forgot to add in my first post on this subject that the paint job reminds me of a Varney CB&Q F3 or something Model Power might have done.

Can you say "as ugly as sin?" Of course that's the way I felt about the red nose stripes on the Q's E units.
