Another east way to tell which trip would be to look at the consist.  The Chicago trip would be on triple track with bi-levels, Kansas City was with heavyweights, single or double track.

Warren,

A quick Google search for '5632 in gold paint' brings up an interesting question or two.  There are photos of 5632 and CB&Q in the usual gold lettering but appearing on black background rectangles.  Yet, there are other photos without the black background rectangles.  Hmmm!!!

Thank you Dan and Ray!
Would love to see your slides digitalized Ray!
Do you live near Chicago? I’d pay for the process if I could use a couple for reference. I boarded at the LaVergne station with my mom grandmother and great grandmother

Dan, I didn’t realize that CB&Q was not under the numbers on the sides of the cab that helps in adding decals.  Did the tender have 5632 on the back?  I didn’t know it was different from one another. Figured it was painted and decaled the same way on both occasions. I’m interested in the Chicago- Aurora version in particular

There was not any "CB&Q" or "O-5B" under the number on the side of cab. Just yellow letters on gold paint. Plus the firebox was still graphite/silver in color. And the tender herald was the large size with white lettering.

I’m looking for good photos of the #s off the side of the cab and rear of the tender so that o can add correct color decals.  I rode in the gallery cars back in 64 when the 100 year commemoration of the Chicago-Aurora service was celebrated
