To expand on Bill's excellent list here... Specifically on: TTBX 931111 - Built March 1968 by Bethlehem Steel as part of Trailer Train series #931088-931125. This car has a Paragon asymmetric bi-level rack (#777) from rack series #770-780. Digging through my saved emails I came across a discussion on this particular car. There was a slide for sale on ebay with the flat painted in the yellow TTX scheme and yet retaining the CBQ rack. Jim Eager described it as "F89XH, BSC -68. The rack is an asymmetric Paragon. To model this one you could modify the Accurail rack to fit the Walthers or Genesis F89F" Not sure if I bid on that slide, probably not since it was in yellow. What type info are you needing Dave? I might have an equipment assignment drawing from the late 60s that might have racks listed. Thanks! Jeff Jeff Worones Seattle WA

Dave, To add to Fred's and Leo's comments, the Morning Sun book Auto Rack Color Guide Vol 1 by Jim Kincaid has the following images of CB&Q auto racks: BTTX 930108 - Built October-November 1966 by Bethlehem Steel as part of a Trailer Train series #930100-930122 (Class F89FH). It has a CB&Q Bi-level rack which the caption states is Rack 749 which was a 1966 Paragon symmetric third generation design. It said the racks come from a series 749-752. BTTX 930172 - Built November 1966 by Bethlehem Steel as part of Trailer Train series #930162-930246 (Class F89FH). It has a CB&Q Bi-level auto rack which the caption states is a Whitehead & Kales second generation Rack #747. The racks are from a series #744-748. KTTX 903975 - Built 1966 by ACF as part of Trailer Train series #903868-903997 (Class F89DH). It has a CB&Q Tri-level auto rack which the caption states is a 1966 symmetric Paragon rack (numbered #717 from series #710-732). KTTX 904044 - Built May 1966 by Pullman-Standard as part of Trailer Train series #903998-904153 (Class F89CH). It has a CB&Q Tri-level auto rack which the caption states is a 1966 symmetric Paragon rack (numbered #714 from series #710-732). RTTX 476991 - Built October 1960 by ACF as part of Trailer Train series #476650-476999 (Class F85A). The caption states that this is rare instance that a sequential set of cars (RTTX 476981-476998) were assigned to one railroad. The car contains a ACF cushioned Tri-Level rack (one of 19). RTTX 903315 - Built 1966 as part of Trailer Train series #903236-903332 (Class F89CH). This car has a second generation Paragon tri-level auto rack (#695) from rack series #688-706. TTBX 931111 - Built March 1968 by Bethlehem Steel as part of Trailer Train series #931088-931125. This car has a Paragon asymmetric bi-level rack (#777) from rack series #770-780. TTKX 905070 - ACF flat car (Class F89UH). It has a 1968 Paragon asymmetric rack (FW&D 350). TTX 903318 - Built by Pullman-Standard. This car has a Paragon symmetric tri-level rack (#691) from series #688-706. TTX 904253 - Built 1966 by Pullman-Standard as part of Trailer Train series #904217-904333. This car has a Whitehead & Kales Lo-Tri-Pak rack (FW&D 307) from rack series #302-309. In Mike Spoor's CB&Q color guide: KTTX 904054 - CB&Q Paragon tri-level rack (Rack #731). TTKX 800173 - CB&Q tri-level auto rack. Based on the what I've read in the Auto Rack book, you almost need specific pictures of the cars to match the correct racks, the correct cars, and the correct CB&Q-family marked cars as for the most part they were not sequentially numbered (one exception listed above). You need the list of rack numbers that Fred referred to that the mechanical department had that matched racks to car in the Trailer Train fleet. If one could find that, one could match things up to the correct Trailer Train class car as a start. Modeling the correct rack is for the most part is going to be a scratch building project. I have the set of Trailer Train history books that were produced
by PRR Historical Society. But I was looking for the above cars, I
found the rosters listed in the books are not quite complete and
have some holes especially in the 900000-904999 set of cars. Bill Hirt On 3/14/2019 8:22 AM, Fred Crissey

Dave:
The
Q and the FW&D did not own any auto rack cars. They owned
the racks (everything above the car floor) but not the flat
cars. The flats were owned by Trailer Train and leased to the
carriers. There was a list of the racks by rack number which
was maintained by the mechanical dept. Generally speaking RTTX
cars were flat deck trilevels, BTTX were bilevels, and KTTX were
low deck trilevels. The primary manufacturer of the racks
during this time was Whitehead and Kales in River Rouge, MI.
Originally the flats were 87ft long but were replaced by 89ft
cars. These were all "open" cars, no side screens, end doors,
or roofs.
