W S Johnston was the Trainmaster at Lincoln who hired me in June 1956 where I drew my first paycheck contributing to the Railroad Retirement Fund.  Those earned benefits are still flowing into my bank account on the first bidness day of the month.

Here's the story of the customer service office vans, from the July-August-September 1968 issue of the railroad's Burlington Bulletin.

Ken

I thought of that but the van looks too modern for 1970. I don’t know anything about U.S. vans - perhaps someone could date the it.

Just a guess since I don’t know when the photo was taken. Could this have been taken right after the merger and they slapped the BN sticker on the Q customer service van?

There’s an undated photo on eBay of the depot at  Bertrand, Nebraska, with a BN Customer Service van parked outside. The depot proudly displays a Burlington Route Herald on the end wall, which could be a leftover from earlier days, but the van has B R Heralds on both rear doors. Perhaps the driver was a BRHS member.
