Notice how heavy duty the tanks in your photo are as well as the heavy plate and riveting at the top and bottom. Even low pressure requires a fairly heavy structure. As the tank diameter gets larger, this becomes even more of an issue, requiring heavier and heavier plate and riveting or welding. The tank in the Savanna photo is way too big and exhibits the standard riveting and plate construction of a fuel tank, such as the Rix tank in HO. Interestingly there is an air tank shown on the yard map. It sits between the roundhouse and the fuel oil tanks on the east side of the engine facility. I would imagine this was the air tank for the roundhouse. The description gives the diameter but it is hard to read the first number. The second number is definitely a 4 and the first number almost looks like a nine or maybe an eight. That would make the air tank 94" in diameter (over 8 feet in diameter). But the drawing does not show a large diameter tank. The label might read "Air Tank 94" Dia." The air tanks in your photo look to be about 4-5 feet in diameter. I checked all my photos of Savanna yard and could not find the air tank in any photos. Does anyone have info or photos on standard sizes for air tanks used at Q roundhouses? -- Tom Mack Cincinnati, OH _._,_._,_
