Call me crazy, but I believe the freight house building you're talking about still exists as one of the structures in the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium.  It might show up on Google Earth satellite images or the like.  My wife and I were there in 2006 and it was there then.  Some of the outside of the building may have been added onto, but the core of the building was still there to see.

The CBQ in Dubuque, Iowa had a brick freight house.  Does anyone know the width and length of that freight house?  It was probably built to a standard plan.  I photographed it in 1987 and now need to build a model of the building.
