Pete - The first part of the video with 4-6-4 type No. 4000 was filmed at St. Paul. There was no concrete coal chute at St. Joe, it was timber. There were some 3000 series 4-6-4's that worked out their flue time between Lincoln/Omaha and St. Joe/Kansas City. But, I don't believe any of the 4000 series got that far "south."
My father relieved Harry Bennedeto at Hannibal as division superintendent on January 24, 1960 due to Mr. Bennedeto unexpectedly resigning. I don't recall what Mr. Bennedeto looked like, may be Archie remembers and can ID him in the video.
Dad was train master at St. Joe from May 16, 1953 to January 1, 1955. I remember him taking me down to see the funeral train you mention. As I vaguely recall, it consisted of Class O-1-A 2-8-2 types, one or two of which ended-up later being sent to Denver, the others being scrapped in Chicago.
I had intended to buy a copy of your DVD as a Christmas present to myself. Thanks for refreshing my memory to do so. I'm sure Bill Barber can ID the various fan trips shown in the video. Best Regards - Louis
