Yes, I do see what look like two intakes and one exhaust.  But on the later E's, there are sometimes what look like 4 intakes and two exhausts.  So, if two intakes means two boilers, then 4 intakes implies 4 boilers.  Unlikely, of course.  Probably still two boilers, but with two intakes for each.  It would seem, then, that the E7's with only one exhaust doghouse might still have just one boiler.  But two intakes, like the later E's.

Also of interest would be why only a couple of E's had the single doghouse.
