2 A units back to back would still be 2 units.  He asked about MORE than 2 units.  Since the discussion is about A units before MU was added to the front (nose) end, the only ways would be to add something which could MY at both ends (theoretically not just an E5B) OR if you have nothing but A units, a second engineer could presumably operate one of the trailing units.
