You fellows are right about calling them.  I figured I'd call them Monday, but wanted to see if others had any experience with this before I called them, particularly if Bowser tells me my only option thru them is to pay the $45 for the entire motor and flywheel assembly.

If the unit has a Kato motor you might try Atlas or Kato....but I'd give Stewart a call as I would find it hard to believe that they don't stock brushes for those motors.

I have a CB&Q "chicken-wire" F3A by Stewart Hobbies.  It recently quit running, and I found that the problem is a motor brush that had somehow broken into several pieces.  Does anyone know where one can obtain replacement brushes for this motor?  As an alternative, is there a source for a replacement Stewart motor or perhaps a substitute motor with the same shaft diameter and length so the existing flywheels and universal joint ends can be used?

The Bowser website does list a #691-600 "Bowser Motor and flywheels (replaces #29)" assembly for $35 plus $10 S&H that appears to be the correct motor per my old instruction sheet, but that seems rather exorbitantly priced when all I really need are replacement motor brushes.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on this matter.
